Waterside View Cottage
Waterside View Cottage is one of a handful of properties on a private estate overlooking Alnmouth. With two spacious bedrooms and lounge, the property can comfortably sleep 6 people and is dog friendly too.
Designed to be a comfortable home from home, Waterside View Cottage has been furnished with carefully sourced antiques from the neighbouring town of Alnwick with style and comfort being of the highest priorities. We loved the old record player with a wicker basket full of records, the antiques chest in the heart of the living room which was home to the a traditional backgammon set, a distressed side table which was home to a selection of vintage binoculars and the gorgeous reading chair perfectly situated looking out of the lounge window.
Although the outdoor space isn't enclosed, it is very private and there is so much space for BBQ's or your children to run around. There are deckchairs, outdoor seating and BBQ's provided and I could not resist working outside for the day with a view like this!

My outdoor office
Absolutely everything is provided for your stay from a modern kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine, to comfortable beds and two wonderfully clean bathrooms with miniature toiletries. You can even order home-cooked local food to be delivered straight to your door or arrange a private chef during your stay via Taste of Northumberland.
One of the features we adored about Waterside View Cottage was the fact that the outside could be brought inside with a sliding door that you could fully open onto the outdoor terrace which was the perfect place to enjoy morning coffee in the sunshine.
Out and about
Alnmouth is a short 15 minute walk away or 2 minutes in the car. Here you will find a few friendly pubs, a nice selection of restaurants, tearooms and independent shops. We stopped for tea and cake at The Village Tearoom which is highly recommended. Lovely friendly service and delicious home cooked food.
The market town of Alnwick is less than 5 miles away where you will find some of the Country's top family attractions - Alnwick Castle, Alnwick Garden and Barter Books to name a few.
The fishing village of Amble is just a few miles South of Alnmouth and a lovely place to spend a few hours. A visit to their craft shops around the harbour and fish and chips are a must.
Finally, the chocolate box village of Warkworth is only 4 miles from Waterside View Cottage. Warkworth Castle is one of our favourites in the region - the views out to sea are impressive and there is always lots to explore.
We loved our stay at Waterside View Cottage and think it is a perfect base for a Northumberland break for families with school-aged children. Our top five highlights were:-
*Stunning sea views
*An abundance of space both inside and out in a private, quiet location
*Easy access to the beach, Alnmouth and Northumberland*A home from home atmosphere with everything provided
*Quirky antiques and talking points such as record players, chess sets and vintage sewing machines

This looks so lovely - I do love places with lots of outdoor space, and that beach is stunning.
ReplyDeleteIt really is - one of the best I think!
DeleteThis looks incredible. I love your outdoor office. It looks so peaceful, so beautiful. It sounds like you've had such a lovely time. I'm desperate for a break away. I really want to stay here! xxx

It was gorgeous and I loved my outdoor office too! Hope I get to do the same from home one day soon x
DeleteWhat a perfect spot for a short break and so much to do close by. That beach looks so stunning with the vast expanse of sea and deserted soft sand and plenty of formal attractions too. I bet you didn't get any work done at your outside office! Thank you for linking up to Country Kids.
ReplyDeleteHehe well I got a few hours done before we couldn't resist going back to the beach ;-)
DeleteWe really do live in such a beautiful part of the country don't we. This looks like such a lovely little break, lovely photos xx
ReplyDeleteWe definitely do - stunning coastline right on our doorstep. If only it could be a bit warmer! Lol
DeleteThe accommodation looks amazing. Modern and spacious! Love visiting Alnwick and Alnmouth. When I have family visiting from abroad (India / America / Hong Kong), I usually take them there for a day trip. Quaint and picturesque. Warkworth Castle is also a great castle to visit. I have seen a fair few castles as hubby is particularly interested in them! We're lucky to live so close to amazing places and sites of interest :-)
ReplyDeleteThis whole post makes me lucky enough to think: "Home!" as this is the area I was raised in... Beautiful photos! Alnmouth is a really lovely little village- It's the kind of place I drag visiting relatives to show them how beautiful the area is. :)
ReplyDeleteEats x
This looks like a gorgeous place to spend a few days and it looks like you caught lovely weather as well. Quite happy to see it is dog friendly as well
ReplyDeleteThe cottage looks amazing. I like self catering cottages too, especially with the dog is easier to have all the place for ourselves. Alnmouth is gorgeous, I would love to visit it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely cottage - looks like a home away from home and ideal for travelling with kids as well.
ReplyDeleteThe cottage looks gorgeous and so family friendly. And please, I would love my own private chef!
ReplyDeleteI have so many happy memories of tramping round castles as a kid. Never quite made it that far north though! Cottage looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteYou really do have some stunning locations in the North East - I really do need to make a point of coming to visit! Alnmouth is so pretty and the Waterside View Cottage is so up my street - we'd be very happy staying there. I love a deserted beach too, there's nothing lovelier than strolling by the sea with no one else there!
ReplyDeleteAlways good to know where there is a dog-friendly beach - I'll let Penny know as she's always on the lookout. I see places with private chefs as an option, but I've never taken advantage of it - I wonder how many people do? But wouldn't it be lovely for a special occassion?!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful beach - and gorgeous blue skies for your trip too, fab!
ReplyDeleteLoved your 'outdoor office' too :D It looks so peaceful there, what a nice place to escape to while still being a good base to explore the area from.
Never heard of Warkworth Castle - clearly I need to check it out though because that's a great view.
