I have been blogging for over two years now and over that time our niche has turned out to be travel blogging. Our family is always ready for an adventure and it is lovely that our suitcases no longer live in the loft and are only brought out once a year. In comparison, it now feels like I spend most of our life living from a suitcase (not that I'm not complaining). We have one suitcase that permanently lives at the bottom of our bed and a travel case always stands at the bottom of our stairs 'just in case'.
In the last few months we've enjoyed a couple's break in a swanky hotel, a family trip to Amsterdam with DFDS Seaways, a few nights in a cottage, a glamping trip and a long weekend in Kielder alongside numerous day trips and days out. All of these trips require luggage of some description. Yes, I know I could use the same case for every trip but this would be boring and it would appear that I have developed a slight obsession with luggage! I now seem to have the ideal bag or case for every type of trip.
In the last few weeks alone I have purchased new luggage from Tesco, bought new luggage tags for us all and picked up a new rucksack for day trips (despite us owning a substantial rucksack collection already - see below for just a snapshot of those we own).
Some women have a weakness for shoes, some for make up and some for homeware. It appears I have developed a weakness for buying luggage. Surely I'm not alone in this? I'd love to hear if anyone else just can't help themselves when they see a new suitcase or carry on bag?? Don't tell anyone, but I have my eyes on these adorable bags for the kids next.
I promise you aren't alone. I have a weakness for matching luggage, so the kids have skip hop backpacks but NEEDED matching lunch bags and accessories! I bought a new soft roll along but Needed the matching bag and cosmetic cases !
ReplyDeleteLOL! I'm glad I'm not alone Karen - I haven't yet discovered matching luggage but how sweet would three matching backpacks for the kids be??
DeleteAh, you have my sympathy. I have a wide range of bags/cases due to my frequent flying - maybe 10-20 trips a year.
ReplyDeleteOnly yesterday I picked up a small case from WIlko to cover a few day trip away. The handle on my previous one broke so I had to replace.
I'm no longer into backpacks or shoulder bags. After years of travel I have a weakened shoulder as a result of all these weights.
Oh no :-( Glad I'm not the only one with a luggage addiction!
Delete😄 well I think that's a lovely sort of problem to have... A luggage obsession! I'm also intrigued as to how you (and other travel bloggers) find the time for all your adventures! X
ReplyDeleteAdventures have top priority in our house :D I agree - there could be worse obsessions couldn't there xx
DeleteHave you and your family been camping before? Me, my husband and our three children are planning on going camping in the school holidays and would love to hear your experiences of camping. The main thing I'm worried about is fitting everything in the car!! I've managed to find some good recipies on Pinterest, but there's nothing better than hearing your experiences :)
ReplyDeleteYeah we used to go camping quite a bit when children were very young (if you type camping with baby in search bar you'll find our post with lots of tips). I have to admit it is a real struggle packing everything in - we used to have a full boot (estate car) and roof box. In the end we decided to stop camping and we prefer glancing now - I like just turning up and having everything ready for us!
DeleteThank you very much for your reply! We're keen to try glamming, but our children have just started doing the "50 things to do before you're 11 3/4" and going camping for a few days will get a lot of those things from the list finished in the summer holidays! Thanks for your very informative posts :)
DeleteI do keep thinking I wish to see more, travel more. I love your blog and seeing where you've visited, it's giving me some great ideas! :D Thanks Sam xx
ReplyDeleteAh thanks for your lovely comment Beth ;-)
