1 - Choose the right TV
We already own an HD Panasonic Viera TV but this year are looking to upgrade to a Panasonic Viera 4K TV which offers 4x the resolution of our current TV. Perfect for watching movies. We have been looking at these every time we visit John Lewis in the past few months and they are actually a lot more affordable than they were a year or so ago.
2 - Set the scene with comfortable seating, blankets and cushions

3 - Choose the right film
Timeout have listed their 20 best Christmas movies for kids should you need any inspiration. Our personal favourites are definitely Elf, The Nativity and Home Alone. I can also bet we will end up watching Frozen a few more times over the Christmas period too. I always have to watch Love Actually and The Holiday whilst I'm wrapping Christmas presents with a glass of mulled wine - it's a little tradition that's all mine and really helps me to get through a job I hate!
4 - Christmas PJ's are compulsory
Incase you didn't know, Christmas PJ's are a MUST when watching a Christmas movie. Watching Miracle on 34th Street in your jeans just isn't as appealing as lounging around in your pjs. Slippers and dressing gowns are also actively encouraged!
5 - Choose the right food and snacks
Our family prefers making our own pizzas or delicious burgers over a takeaway and we would definitely recommend having a steady supply of treats and drinks available within easy reach. Family Movie Night is probably one of the only times we allow our children to eat in front of the tv (or in the living room) and it always feels like a real treat.
So there you have our top 5 tips for the perfect Christmas movie night. We are always looking for recommendations and I would love to hear your favourite family Christmas movies. Why not join our North East Family Fun Christmas facebook group and let us know your tips too.
This is a great post -I've got about 10 films that need to be watched every year!
