Make your own haunted house in your living room this Halloween with DFS #MySofaDen

When I see something scary, the sofa is usually a good place to hide behind. However, this Halloween I thought it would be a fun idea to make the sofa part of the horror and turn it into a haunted house den for the kids. Don’t worry, it’s not as scary or den-gerous as you may think!

Here’s how we got on making #MySofaDen:

A 'Before' Shot

So building a sofa den was actually pretty easy. The first step is to remove your sofa cushions and place them on the floor (this is also a good chance to vacuum your sofa - this was well overdue for us. Ooops!)

You might need extra furniture to try and create some height so we used two small chairs and then draped some black material over them to create a roof. Any blanket or sheet would work but we already had this black material in the house and thought it was ideal for Halloween.

Next, it's time to accessorise. We have a bag full of Halloween decorations that we've collected over the years and picked a few things out that fitted well. A spooky welcome sign, a couple of lanterns and a few spiders help to create an atomosphere.

We wanted our den to stay cosy so scattered cushions along the back to make it nice and comfortable.

Finally, we added a 'Trick or Treat' bucket which we filled with eyeball chocolates and a few tricks to surprise any visitors.

Time to get cosy..........

A sofa den is perfect for rainy days and snuggling up to watch a movie. Heidi loved it and spent a full day happily camped out in here.

Heidi even dressed up to try and scare her brothers if they dared to try and enter! LOL!! I think she looks pretty scary!
