Potters Resort is in Norfolk - around a 5 hour drive from Newcastle and its right by the sea with direct beach access too. 

10 Reasons We Love Potters Resort Family Breaks

1 - You receive 4 meals per day

At Potters, you are allocated your own table and servers on arrival and it's yours for the duration of your stay. You're able to enjoy breakfast (arrive between 8:30 and 10am), lunch (arrive between 12:30 and 1:30pm), dinner (arrive between 6:30 and 7:30pm) and a midnight feast (in the terrace bar at midnight).

Although the dining room is huge, it's completely hassle-free and not at all stressful. There are a range of options from an a la carte menu or you can help yourself to a buffet.

This worked out so well for us as the kids would head to the buffet straight away with no waiting around and Steve and I would order from the menu and feel nice and relaxed.

There are lots of little touches such as the staff bringing you toast to your table rather than you having to wait at a machine for it and jugs of water and a selection of sauces on your table as standard. The food quality wasn't outstanding and not something which would wow you but it was really good and probably the best I've enjoyed in a UK holiday park/resort of this type.

2 - 100+ activities are included at no additional cost

This is what really sets Potters apart from their competition. There are 100s of activities to choose from across your stay with 99% of them being without an additional cost (the only thing I could see that you had to pay for was ten pin bowling and the arcade machines).

Over our weekend, we enjoyed so much from climbing walls, inflatable assault course and segways to Halloween crafts, archery, giant swing, swimming, mini-golf and rifle shooting. There is SO much to do here and it would be impossible to experience it all.

Most activities are available on a 'just turn up' basis and this suited us really well. Potters is a pretty full-on resort and you never know what the weather is going to be like or how tired youre going to be. We made a rough plan with the activity guide we were given on arrival but it was brilliant being able to just pick and choose activities on our terms.

I worked out that the activities we tried would have cost us well over £300 and it was so refreshing to not have to keep putting my hand in my pocket.

3 - Outstanding entertainment team and staff

The staff here are wonderful - everyone from compare Mark Brewer to the cleaning staff went above and beyond. The entertainment team made sure that all of the kids were included and were forever chatting with them.

4 - Fabulous evening entertainment 

There's a choice of evening entertainment for all ages - from kids club crafts like jewellery making to sports tournaments and a mini disco for younger kids. These activities are spread across the resort and don't feel too overwhelming for kids.

The Atlas Theatre is where the main action happens though. In the evenings there is prize bingo, followed by a superb evening show. These shows are just wonderful and remind me of what you would see on a cruise ship. They are full productions with lighting, effects, a live band and more. The shows were a definite holiday highlight for me.

5 - Free sports tuition 

There are SO many sports courts here including a 9 hole golf course, squash and badminton courts, tennis courts, table tennis tables, bowling greens and football pitches. FREE professional coaching was included in our break and its available for all ages and abilities - there are set times and you just drop in.

Again, this is something I haven't really encountered before and if we were to return or stay for a little longer, I know it is something we would be keen to take advantage of.

6 - Freedom for children aged 8+ 

There is no childcare at Potters and children remain the responsibility of their parents. However, for most activities, children aged 8+ could enjoy them without an adult being present.

For us, this meant the kids could play on the inflatable assault course as we watched the rugby in the bar and on another afternoon, Steve and I enjoyed a coffee as the kids played on the amusements and then tried a couple of other activities. We were always close by and they knew where we are but this kind of freedom was appreciated by both them and us.

All children need to wear a wristband and your phone number is written on the inside as an extra precaution.

7 - Range of accommodation options 

There are various accommodation types from small chalets and bungalows to inter-connecting hotel rooms for families like us with three older kids who appreciate their own space. I found the rooms to be well equipped and very spacious too. 

8  - Free WiFi 

Obvs we didn't sit on our phones all weekend but we did have a couple of hours chill time between our day and evening activities and the kids were very happy that they could catch up on YouTube during this time.

9 - Reasonable drinks prices

I was expecting drinks prices to be through the roof but they are honestly not bad at all. Bottles of wine are available from around £15 and our standard round of two pints of beer, two large cokes and a blackcurrant juice was £14. 

10 - Lots of fun for all ages 

Harry is 13 now and Jack is 8 (with Heidi being in between). It can be challenging finding a holiday which suits all of us. Potters is brilliant though and there are activities all day long for all ages from babies and toddlers up to grandparents.

There are also plenty of activities the whole family can enjoy together such as line dancing, family bingo, various quizzes throughout the day (gutted we missed the NOW Music Quiz), swimming, bowling, sports and crazy golf. 

Potters seem to attract multi-generational families here as part of a weekend celebration. It has been lovely seeing families celebrate Golden wedding anniversaries or special birthdays together and I think the set up here is absolutely perfect for this.
