A lovely cafe by a fantastic play park serving delicious homemade food.
Nelson's at the Park is an absolutely gorgeous cafe overlooking Swarland village park serving delicious homemade food.
The business was set up by friends who live in Swarland and initially volunteered in the village tearoom. It is a place where community really is at the heart.
There is seating both inside and out and the terrace is a gorgeous spot on a sunny day with the added bonus of it over-looking the village play park so perfect if you are out with kids.
The food is gorgeous and the portions generous. Just look at those wedges! I really wanted to try one of their amazing looking cakes but I just didn't have the room. My top tip is to go hungry!
Honestly, it is such a brilliant spot for kids. As well as the fantastic play park directly outside of the tea room, there are tennis courts, dog walks, playing fields, woodland walks, golf, bowls and football all within close proximity. Loads of space for kids to run around. Dogs are welcome outside.
My toasted sandwich was a bit of a doorstopper! Lush.
The kids build your own picnic option is cute for £4.25 and includes healthy options too.

Check out their menu below (correct March 2020) and pop a date in the diary. You won't regret it.
Nelson's at the Park is located just off the A1 and is a fab place to pop to with little ones before/after nursery when it is a little quieter or if you fancy a cake date / lunch with friends. It can get busy but it is more than worth a trip. I bet afternoon tea here is a lovely treat.
