This post has been updated to include pumpkin patches in 2024.
Please Read
I am hoping to visit lots of Autumn events across October and will be sharing videos of our experiences over on our Instagram account - make sure you're following along here (or just search for North East Family Fun on Instagram)
It's important to check with venues direct before heading out as sometimes they need to change opening dates or closed early if they run out of pumpkins. Please make sure you do this!
I am so sorry but there is zero information out there regarding whether these pumpkin patches are accessible. I know it's a pain but I'd recommend giving the pumpkin patch you'd like to visit a ring closer to the time to check the current terrain and suitability.
I have plotted all of the locations of the Pumpkin Patches mentioned in this post in this handy google map - you can download / view it for free and get all of the postcodes here. Or scroll to the bottom of this post for an interactive version of the map.
My Top Recommendation
We usually visit Spilmans Farm Pumpkin Picking and always have THE best time, honestly I recommend it to anyone who fancies getting in the mood for Halloween. Plus they serve the best pizzas around.
Pumpkin Picking Essentials
(ad affiliate links)- Kids wellies are a must for pumpkin patches - check out this selecton & look out for the ones with the easy pull on handles
- And of course, wellies for grown ups too - browse a selection here
- I've spotted lots of little ones like to wear waterproof puddle suits on pumpkin patches. There is a good range on offer here. Top tip - size up to get a couple of years wear out of it.
- It is best to wrap up when visiting a pumpkin patch. These pumpkin/autumnal hats are fab. I love this one and think I will purchase for myself.
- Often babies will get dressed up in Pumpkin Suits for photos at pumpkin patches. You can browse a selection of pumpkin suits here.
- We tend to visit pumpkin patches early in the season and carve them at home. If you do this too, check out these pumpkin carving & stencil kits. I recommend going for a metal / heavy duty one. The plastic ones are a bit rubbish.
- Your wellies are likely to get pretty muddy. I recommend taking a bin bag with you to carry them home or if you're fancy, you can buy specific welly bags which will stop the mud from transferring to your car.
- If you like to make a day of it, why not treat the kids to a pumpkin themed book to read in the car on the way there / back.
