The Running Fox is one of my favourite places to stop for a foodie treat in Northumberland. We have been visiting for years and I have fond memories of taking the kids to feed the ducks in Felton after breakfast here and splashing out on Afternoon Tea with various friends and family over the years. Their style is homemade, plentiful and delicious more than refined and anything I buy from The Running Fox always feels like such good value and like an indulgent treat.
Last time we visited The Running Fox was in the Autumn. Steve and I tried their click and collect service and ordered a little take away picnic to take to Wallington for our anniversary. It was such a lovely treat. Rules have changed now though and our local store is in Felton which is a 20-30 minute drive for us. I know the rules are open to a bit of interpretation but I personally feel like driving for this length of time for a bit of cake is not essential.
So I was delighted to discover that The Running Fox has extended their local home delivery service (more info on locations etc.... at the bottom of this post). It is really easy to place an order via their website so I did just that as a weekend treat for myself and the kids when Steve was working.
The range available for local delivery isn't as big as the selection available in store but there is still plenty to choose from including afternoon tea, cakes, pastries, pies, quiches, tray bakes and chutneys etc..... You can browse and order online via the 'shop' section on The Running Fox website.
I placed an order around 12 days in advance. You pay online at the point of ordering and the team called me the day before delivery with an estimated delivery time. Our box of treats turned up right on time and I just love the presentation. This would make a wonderful gift to send someone (just check they will be at home).
If you don't want to order a full afternoon tea, you can order selected items individually too and there is the option to order a full pie if you fancy pie for dinner one night. I will say, the afternoon teas are huge so you can spread it across two lunches or two people if you want to.
You can place an order for local delivery via the 'shop' section of The Running Fox website. Delivery is £3.50-£5 depending on your zone and delivery is on selected dates and to selected areas across the North East (see table and map below).
National delivery is also available for selected products although this tends to be for non-baked goods at the moment.
