Blair Drummond Safari Park | Review & Tips

Blair Drummond Safari Park is just over a 3 hour drive from Newcastle. Located near Stirling in Scotland (and not far from Falkirk if you wish to extend your break - click here to read 50 things to do in Falkirk). We visited as part of our holiday in the Central Lowlands in July 2021. 

Our Holiday in The Central Lowlands, Scotland (& ideas for places to visit)

 This post is based on our visit in July 2021. We stayed in Rumbling Bridge which is very small village near Kinross in the Central Lowlands. We certainly didn't see all that is on offer in the area as it is so vast but I hope this post will give you an idea of what you can expect. Rumbling Bridge is around a 3 hour drive from Newcastle. We had the best time and found there was a real mix of things to do as well as opportunities to relax. 

We absolutely love taking holidays in Scotland. It is easy to get to from the North East and offers stunning scenery, lots of ways to relax and there is so much in terms of things to do too.

Hirst Park in Ashington, Northumberland was first built in 1915 for local mining families to use as a recreation area. The park and area has a strong connection with miners, football and families and Jackie and Bobby Charlton played on the fields as young lads. Jackie Milburn is another famous face from the area.

We visited Falkirk in July 2021. It has been somewhere on my radar for a long time and watching Susan Calman's Secret Scotland during lockdown really cemented my wish to visit. I really wanted to see the Kelpies and take a trip on the Falkirk Wheel and both were definitely worth the trip alone. But what really stood out from my trip was just how much there is to see and do in Falkirk beyond the big attractions. It really is a destination I would recommend to families looking for a short break in the UK.
