Ad - My sister in law Kelly (& family) went along to press night on our behalf. They visit this panto every year and have actually booked again to go again on Christmas Eve.
Need to know:
- Timings: Act One is 60 minutes, there is a 20 minute interval and Act Two is 75 minutes
- You can expect loud pyrotechnics

Whitley Bay Playhouse - Where to Park / Public Transport
Whitley Bay Playhouse is in the heart of Whitley Bay and around a 10 minute walk from Whitley Bay Metro Station. Regular buses stop close by and the theatre itself has a free car park. There are other free/paid car parks nearby too and I've never had an issue finding a space (use parkopedia for other options nearby).
Whitley Bay Playhouse - Dining Options
You are spoilt for choice in Whitley Bay. Pantrinis, Crab & Waltzer (who I know are running a festive sandwich special and Di Meos (who serve lovely pizzas as well as their delicious ice cream) are all in the immediate vicinity with Spanish City (I recommend their festive afternoon tea) and Hinnies being a little further away along the seafront.
Whitley Bay Playhouse - 2021 Panto Review
Personally, I really like the playhouse as a venue. It's modern with clean loos, easy to get to and their seats have plenty of legroom. Unlike most theatres, the stalls are actually slightly tiered too (as demonstrated by this throwback photo of when we met Mister Maker there) which means there isn't a bad view in the house.I always think it's a brilliant option as a first 'proper' panto for kids as it's pretty chilled with lots of opportunities to clap and dance along.
2021's panto is Snow White starring Linda Lusardi as the evil Queen alongside Lucy Kane who blew judges away in The Voice back in 2017 and Playhouse legend Steve Walls (this is his 11th year at The Playhouse) as Muddles. Daniel Mawston also makes a return as the Dame.

A firm family favourite of ours and an annual tradition, we always choose the Whitley Bay Playhouse for our Christmas Panto.
After waiting two years for their return, Steve Walls and the gang did not disappoint. Steve (Muddles) and his co-star Daniel Mawston (Dame Patsy) stole the show as always, with their fun and antics. Linda Lusardi (The Wicked Queen) and her real-life daughter (Lucy Kane) playing Snow White were also a fabulous pairing.
The seven dwarfs added to the magic of this all-time classic pantomime.
This panto is always a great family event and the little kids in the audience were screaming with delight. There are also plenty ‘laugh out loud’ moments for the grown-ups too with some (not very subtle) innuendos from Muddles and Dame Patsy!
Well done to all the cast and crew for another magical success! We loved it and, “We’ll have to do it again then, won’t we” on Christmas Eve.
