The Koala Who Could is playing at Northern Stage (just across from Haymarket) over February Half Term.

Perfect for families with children aged 3+, we join Kevin the Koala as he learns to embrace change (with a little help from his wombat and kangaroo friends) in this laugh-out-loud rhyming tale based on the best selling book which has sold millions of copies worldwide.

(ad) The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe at Newcastle Theatre Royal 




Get ready for the adventure of a lifetime as the West End smash hit production of The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe visits Newcastle Theatre Royal this February Half Term. 

There are still limited tickets available so be quick if you fancy this one, discounted family tickets are available on selected performances too.

(ad) Lambing at Spilman's Farm 



Lambing at Spilmans takes place on selected dates across February (including half term). This family-run farm is inviting the public to step inside and discover what really happens on a farm during lambing season. 

There will be hourly educational talks with the resident farmer and shepherd (plus a chance to ask any burning questions), a chance to meet the rare breed sheep and lambs (and you might just catch a live birth), there are photo opportunities and you can meet the other farmyard animals including alpacas and chickens.

Afterwards, head to the barn and enjoy some complimentary sheep themed wooly crafts. The farm shop & cafe will be open serving food and drinks too.

Families can enjoy a special 'Little Astronomers Trail' at Plotters' Forest this February Half Term. Included with admission, you'll discover hidden space-themed clues and facts, discover hidden stars and collect the letters before you unscramble and reveal a mystery word...... 

All tickets to the Plotters' Forest include complimentary same-day entry to the Deer Park and Walled Gardens - the perfect place to grab some fresh air. 

Meanwhile, over at High Force Waterfall, they're embracing the first signs of Spring with a special Spring Safari Trail leading down to the waterfall. Can you spot the signs of spring and complete the activities? Dogs on leads are welcome to join you on this adventure too.

Did you know, Discovery Museum is open every day in February and there's lots of FREE fun to enjoy from creating wind tunnels to playing on pinball machines and even having a go at flying planes using solar energy.

There's lots going on over February Half Term too including A Very Hungry Caterpillar Storytelling and Crafts for ages 3-5 years, Chain Reaction Family Challenges where you can use Dominoes and Marble Runs to create your very own Chain Reaction and a chance to meet a real life Green Energy Expert and ask any burning questions.

Great North Museum is also open every day across February and FREE to visit. Why not try one of the museum's FREE Murray the Mole Trails? Just ask on arrival for more info - there are four different trails to complete in total (and you get a free sticker at the end - who doesn't love a sticker?).

Across February Half Term there's a chance to create your very own giant mole hands (fun to explore the museum with), create your own mole-themed bug box and take part in an interactive mole habitat where you have to think like a mole.

(ad) Five Days of FREE Drop In Activities at Baltic

🗓 26 Feb - 2 March

Baltic’s Big Days Out return this February Half Term with the theme ‘ Signs & Symbols’. Expect 5 days packed with fun and free activities ranging from Cereal Disco & Sign (with a free breakfast), a giant game of bingo and mindfulness sessions to drop in poetry, creative storytelling, crafts and artist-led workshops.

Throughout the five days of activity, visitors to Baltic can also enjoy a unique pop-up exhibition created by event supporters Newcastle Building Society.

(ad) Visit Beamish this February Half Term



Beamish Museum is open daily from 22 Feb - 2 March and there's no need to pre-book ahead, simply drop in during opening hours with your Beamish Unlimited / Friends of Beamish Pass (or purchase a pass on arrival - last admission is 1 hour before closing). 

This half term you can explore Creativity in the Coalfield and learn about local writers and artists and their links to Mining Heritage in the region. Beamish has planned lots of activities from sketching and family trails to a chance to have a go at charcoal drawing, create your own spar box and make a seed bomb. There's so much to explore including 1820s Pockerley, the 1900s Town (a trip to the sweet shop is a must), 1900s Pit Vilage (don't miss the school house), 1900s Colliery, 1940s Farm, 1950s Farm (say hi to the animals from me), 1950s Town, Rowley Station AND Beamish Tramway. 

Remember, the Beamish Unlimited Pass lasts for a full year so if you purchase now, it will cover you for every school holiday in 2025 including Summer and Christmas (excludes evening events).
