Roker to Seaburn Pushchair Friendly Walk

1.5 miles each way (so 3 miles in total - very easy to make it shorter or longer)
Pushchair and wheelchair friendly with a surfaced lower and upper prom
Pass three beaches - one is nice and sandy, another is great for rockpooling and the third has quite a few shells

Parking available or accessible by Metro (St Peters / Seaburn) or bus
Two playgrounds - Marine Park at Roker and Roker Park on the upper prom
Part of the C2C and W2W (so a brilliant option for cycling with the family too)
Lots of clean public toilets and seating along the route (the most I've ever seen!)

This is a lovely walk to try with the family and/or dogs (check beach access if visiting from 1 May - 30 Sept). If you are looking for an alternative in North Tyneside, I would recommend this Whitley Bay to Tynemouth pushchair-friendly route.

We parked at Harbour View Car Park which overlooks the sea and offers direct beach access (postcode SR6 0RG) . We paid 60p per hour (or you can park all day for £3). There are over 100 spaces and 10 disabled spaces. There is another car park next door too.

If you're more savvy than me, there are some free places you can park in the vicinity but for ease and when visiting somewhere I'm not familiar with, I always like to choose a proper car park.

This car park is an ideal starting point with Marine Walk Park next to you (check out the park's outer wall which is designed to look like a whale), the beach in front of you, Fausto Coffee behind you and lots of seating. This park is best suited to younger children.

After a quick run around on the beach for Fozzy, we started the walk with takeaway coffee from Fausto. What a lovely place this is. Service was super quick too. We just sat on the seats on the prom overlooking the sea with our drinks and taking in the view. Lovely.

If you face the sea, turn left and this will take you in the direction of Seaburn. On the first part of the walk, we walked on the beaches but if you don't fancy that, there is a surfaced path alongside the prom plus an upper promenade by the road (which is the route we walked on the way back) too.

As you walk along, there are lots of little takeaway kiosks and so much seating. I also noticed lots of public loos which I am assured are kept nice and clean. Very refreshing to see this and I would say that this is one of the best walks to try if you need regular loo breaks or regular sit downs.

You pass three beaches along this walk, Roker beach at the start which is nice but does have quite a few shells (perfect for looking for treasures), then the area around Whitburn Bay which is good for rockpooling then Seaburn beach which is nice and sandy.

Our walk along the prom ended at Stack Seaburn. I was really impressed with this place which overlooks the beach and is dog-friendly. There are lots of local businesses inside and you can take your pick. On the day of our visit there were pizzas, fish and chips, tacos, burgers, bao buns, gyros, cakes and more.

You order from your chosen kiosk and they give you a little buzzer which buzzes when your order is ready. The tables are all in the centre of the food outlets with heaters available too. If you venture upstairs, the views of the coast are fab.

The staff were all lovely in here and they had dog water bowls for Fozzy.

We ordered a couple of pizzas and a couple of drinks which were a bargain at less than £20 all in. We will definitely be back and when we walk from Souter Lighthouse to Seaburn later in the year, we will be calling in for lunch again.

After lunch, we walked back along to Roker, this time staying on the upper prom which offered great views of the coastline and you pass a lighthouse too.

You can access Roker Park from the upper prom and it's definitely worth popping into. There are two playgrounds with equipment in good condition for all ages (including a pirate ship and sand diggers), a children's railway (selected dates), model boat lake, waterfalls, walks, swans and sports courts.

After our walk around the park, we continued back towards the car park. I was keen to pop in Love Lily's before we left as I have heard so many good things about their pancakes. There was around a 15 minute wait for pancakes (for which they are famous) so I opted for two millionaires shortbread stuffed cookies to take out instead.

Wow they were gorgeous! What a way to end our walk. This place definitely exceeded my expectations and I will be back with the kids next winter to try their hot chocolates.
