Days out with Toddlers can be tricky with young kids getting easily bored but there are loads of places around Newcastle that will keep little ones entertained. This post will share our top 5 places to visit in Newcastle with your toddler.......
Newcastle is a wonderful city to visit with toddlers with excellent transport links and a compact size making it easy to walk around.
Here are our top 5 toddler friendly days out to try in Newcastle:
- Burn off some energy in the Soft Play upstairs in Eldon Square (UPDATE - NOW CLOSED but check out this post featuring 10+ play areas in Newcastle City Centre)
- Visit the Dinosaurs and the Mouse House at Great North Museum (it's FREE)
- Pay Discovery Museum a visit and enjoy their hands on activities or Tiny Sparks Pre-School Sessions
- Spend the Day in Ouseburn - you can enjoy an ice cream, visit Seven Stories (free) and say hello to the cows and sheep at Ouseburn Farm (also free)
- Visit Exhibition Park and enjoy the playground, cafe and a walk around the boating lake
5 Toddler Friendly Days Out in Newcastle
1 - Jungle Jack's Adventure Soft Play Area

Jungle Jack's Adventure Soft Play Area is a spacious jungle themed, city centre soft play suitable for children aged 0-8.
Situated at Grey's Quarter in Eldon Square it is easily accessible by lift and is very reasonably priced at £2.50 for under 2's and £6 for over 2's for a 1 hour session and no charge for adults.
There are two multi level play frames, football pitch, large ball pool and a baby area with sofa around so parents can stay close.

2 - Visit the Dinosaurs and The Mouse House at Great North Museum
What kid doesn't love dinosaurs, we have been going to The Great North Museum for years and the Dinosaur section is always a favourite with our kids.
The Giant T-Rex Skeleton is the showpiece and there are lots of other dino models on display as well.
The Mouse House is a multi-purpose for under fives with a gallery to introduce younger kids to the museums collections. There is also activities on the wall to help explore the rest of the museum as well as regular pre-school activities and events (see their website for info).
This is a FREE Day Out for Toddlers and super easy to get to by public transport.

3 - Toddler Activities at Discovery Museum
There are lots to see and do at The Discovery Museum for toddlers with a Science Maze a favourite of many kids which includes pinball, air hockey and a mirror maze.
Interactive displays to bring Science and Engineering to life, a Play and Invent Area to let children's imagination run wild.
A giant map of the River Tyne is also a fun exhibit where kids can try an find familiar places along the river and there are special pre-school events and sessions available including Tiny Sparks.

4 - Visit Ouseburn
You could literally spent all day at Ouseburn as there is so much to do with Ouseburn Farm a great day out for any little animal lovers.
Seven Stories is The National Centre for Childrens Books and is just a couple of minutes walk from the farm.
Seven Stories is the only place to have exhibitions dedicated to the work of children's writers and illustrators and is completely FREE to visit.
You can then also have a walk along the River to get some Pizza and Ice Cream from Di Meo's

5 - Visit Exhibition Park Playground
The Playground at Exhibition Park is brilliant for all ages with climbing frames, slides, swings, roundabouts and table tennis tables.
The on-site cafe is toddler friendly and serves ice cream too. Little ones will also enjoy a walk around the boating lake.
There are also Free Miniature Train Rides around Exhibition Park which runs on the 1st Sunday of the Month from April onwards which is always a big hit kids of all ages.
