We love a Eurocamp (or similar) holiday. They're generally nice and relaxed with good facilities on site and relatively inexpensive when compared to other holiday types.
I know the idea of driving abroad terrifies some (read about my own experience here). So this post aims to share some of the places you can enjoy a Eurocamp holiday from Newcastle without the need to take your car.
How to Plan Flights & Transfers
- Use SkyScanner to find flights. It's simple to use - just type in Newcastle as your starting point and then select your destination. You can use filters to find the cheapest dates to fly too. The beauty of a Eurocamp holiday is that your accommodation does not need to be Sat-Sat so once you've found a few flight times and prices you are happy with, you can play around with dates on the Eurocamp website to find the best price overall.
Sometimes, the cheapest flight time doesn't tie up with the cheapest accommodation by a day - if this happens, sometimes it pays to book a one night stay at the city you are flying into / out of. - Use Rome2Rio as a guide for taxi prices / public transport between airports and accommodation but ALWAYS check timetables direct with operator too. It's really easy to use - just type in your starting point and destination and it will share approx taxi costs, public transport options and journey times

Bella Italia, Lake Garda
Getting There
- You can fly from Newcastle-Verona with Tui
- 23 minute/23km drive between the airport and site. A taxi should cost 40-70 euros
- Public transport involves catching a bus to the train station and then a train to Pescheria del Garda (1.5miles from the site entrance)
Bella Italia is a 5* site in Lake Garda. There is direct access to the lakeside beach and excellent facilities onsite including 4 swimming pools and a pizzeria. The nearest town (Pescheria del Garda) is a 25 minute walk along the lake and here you will find bus, boat and train connections for exploring the area.
We are actually staying at another nearby site (Del Garda Village and Camping) in this area this summer so do look out for my posts from this area in June. We're going car-free and flying from Newcastle with Tui. We have plans to explore Lake Garda by boat and Verona & Venice by train.

Sanguli, Costa Dorada
Getting There 
- You can fly Newcastle-Reus with Jet2
- It is a 15 minute/12km drive and should cost 30-40 euro for a taxi
- The Empresa Plana Seasonal Airport Bus stops in Salou (not directly outside the site) and is 3euro per person (should take 37 minutes)

We stayed at Sanguli twice when the kids were little and absolutely loved it! Located on the outskirts of Salou, it's easy to walk to the beach, into the town or catch the bus along to Cambrils. We took bus trips to Barcelona and Sitges too.
This is another 5* site and includes four pool complexes, restaurants and lots of entertainment.

Cambrils, Costa Dorada
Getting There 
- You can fly from Newcastle-Reus with Jet2
- It is a 20 minute / 16km drive from the airport to site and should cost around 40euros for a taxi
- There is a seasonal airport bus direct to Cambrils (Empresa Plana) which is 3euro pp and takes 55 minutes.

This 4* site is within walking distance of both Cambrils and Salou. There are five pool complexes to choose from as well as plenty of activities including crazy golf and trampolining.
I haven't stayed at this site before but I have visited Cambrils twice before and loved it! Think beautiful beaches with beach-side seafood and tapas restaurants with quaint streets for shopping.
Le Chene Gris Campsite, Paris
How to Get There 
- Fly from Newcastle - Paris with AirFrance
- A taxi transfer is fairly expensive at £100 but this site is conveniently next to a train station so public transport is an option (change in Paris)

This 4* site is a lively complex close to Disneyland Paris. There is a train station next to the site making it ideal for travelling into Paris. The site is surrounded by forest and you can enjoy hiking, canoeing, tennis and more.
Village Fabulous , Rome
How to Get There
- Newcastle - Rome with Jet2
- A taxi should take 20 minutes and cost around 45 euros

This beautiful site is set within 70 acres of beautiful pine trees and has public transport into Rome on it's doorstep. There's a brilliant pool complex, restaurant and ice cream shop. There's a bus stop right outside the park which will take you to the Metro Station for direct trains into Rome in around 30 minutes.

Duinrell, the Netherlands
Don't want to fly? How about sailing with DFDS from Newcastle to Amsterdam. It's very easy to get to Duinrell from here - take the boat's transfer bus to Amsterdam Station then catch the train to the Hague. From here, you can catch the bus 44 straight to Duinrell (it literally stops inside the gates).
Alternatively, a taxi from Amsterdam Station to Duinrell should cost £120-£160 or a taxi from the Hague Station to Duinrell will be around £30.

Duinrell is an excellent option for a car-free holiday with LOADS to do and buses stopping inside the park.
If you stay here, you'll have unlimited access to the theme park and there's a waterpark on site too. The beautiful town of Wassennar is just a 1 minute walk from the site entrance - here you'll find ice cream parlours, restaurants and more.
Another option for car-free travel is to take the bus to Spain. We did this back in 2016 and it was a HUGE bargain at less than £1000 for the 5 of us.
We stayed at Camping La Siesta in the stunning harbour village of Calella de Palafrugall. We genuinely say this was still one of the best holidays we've had. Click the blue links to read more.
