The Best Places to Stay in Seahouses

Why Stay in Seahouses?

Seahouses in Northumberland is one of my favourite places to stay by the seaside. I honestly love staying here and will try and stay at least once a year.

We are spoilt for choice when it comes to accommodation types and there is genuinely something for everyone from lodges and caravans to hotels, campsites and glamping.

Dogs are welcome in some of the room types in all of the venues mentioned in this post and dogs are welcome on the beaches in the area at all times with no restrictions and can even join you on a boat trip to the Farnes.

Dogs are also welcome in the grounds and some indoor areas (not the State Rooms) at nearby Bamburgh Castle with charity dog-sitting available for those wishing to see the State Rooms on selected dates. Basically, Seahouses is brilliant for dogs!

Why Seahouses? Here are just a few reasons I love it:

  • Beautiful coastal views out to Bamburgh Castle and the Farne Islands

  • Lovely coastal walks to Beadnell or Bamburgh (and beyond if you're up for it)

  • Lush traditional dog-friendly pubs

  • Plenty to do including arcades, shopping, crazy golf, boat trips and soft play

  • Fantastic food options - there are so many high quality pubs and restaurants here, all within walking distance

  • A fab base for exploring Northumberland with Bamburgh, Alnwick, Beadnell, Craster & Holy Island within easy reach

  • Easy to reach by public transport - X18 from Newcastle/Mopeth/Berwick/Alnwick stops in the village

  • One of the best places in the North East to stop for fish & chips

  • Beaches and rockpools to explore

  • Super dog friendly

The Beach House Hotel

The Best Places to Stay in Seahouses - The Beach House Hotel Family Room
The Beach House Hotel Family Room

The Beach House Hotel is a gorgeous place to stay. They offer a range of rooms including sea view, family and dog-friendly and have a fantastic bar and restaurant (open to non-residents too) which really makes the most of those panoramic views.

Guests have complimentary use of the pool, gym and spa at Seafield Caravan Park next door and we have found this hotel to be so welcoming for kids with board games in the bar, rock pool schools and more.

There is a free on-site car park and rooms are fresh and modern. The hotel is a 2 minute walk from the centre of Seahouses in a prime location overlooking the coastal path. Expect to pay around £149 for a double room including breakfast with regular special offers available.

The Olde Ship Inn

The Best Places to Stay in Seahouses - The Olde Ship Inn Four Poster Room
The Olde Ship Inn Four Poster Room

The Olde Ship Inn is a nautical themed pub with rooms in the very heart of Seahouses. I love the quirky decoration and it feels like a nice pub filled with locals.

There is a range of accommodation on offer including four poster suites and even a two bedroom bungalow in their garden which is ideal for families.

A warm welcome is guaranteed here. Expect to pay around £130 for a double room with breakfast. Special offers are regularly available.

The only downside to this accommodation is that there is no on-site parking and most guests will have to use the paid car park across the road.

Seafield Park

The Best Places to Stay in Seahouses - Deluxe Holiday Home at Seafield Park
Deluxe Holiday Home at Seafield Park

Seafield Park is a fantastic luxury site in the heart of Seahouses with friendly staff and first class facilities. Guests can enjoy complimentary access to the park's swimming pool, spa and gym, there's a playground and a lovely dog-friendly on-site bar and bistro too.

There's the option to stay in a holiday home, lodge, apartment, cottage or bring your own tourer. Prices start at £370 for three nights (holiday home) and £36 per night (tourer). Most accommodation offers on-site parking.

Please note, day passes are no longer available for the pool and spa at Seafield Park. Their facilities are complimentary for guests staying on the parks, members and associated accommodation in Seahouses.

Harbour Way Cottage

Harbour Way Cottage Main Bedroom

Harbour Way is just one of the gorgeous cottages available across the Northumberland Coast with Coast & Country Stays.

It's in the very heart of Seahouses with on-site car parking in an enclosed courtyard, a large open plan kitchen/diner/living area and four bedrooms (one downstairs, three upstairs). It's dog-friendly too. Prices start at around £770 for three nights for up to eight guests.

Springhill Farm

The Best Places to Stay in Seahouses - Springfield Farm Wigwams

Springhill Farm is located on the outskirts of Seahouses Village and offers a range of accommodation options including WigWams, Cottages, Touring Pitches & Cottages.

On site parking is available and there is a playground on site. The only negative I would say is that it's a mile into Seahouses centre so not as close to the action as the other options mentioned in this post.

Prices start from £25 for a touring pitch and £80 per night for a wigwam.

The Bamburgh Castle Inn

The Best Places to Stay in Seahouses - Bamburgh Castle Inn Beer Garden
Bamburgh Castle Inn Beer Garden

I do have to be honest and say I absolutely love Inn Collection Group Pubs - they are dog and child friendly and usually lovely and welcoming.

Read our reviews of other Inn Collection Pubs below:

I have yet to stay at The Bamburgh Castle Inn (the only place I haven't stayed on this list). They have the most fantastic beer garden with views out to the Farnes and offer a range of accommodation including family rooms and dog-friendly rooms.

However, the past few times we have popped in for food or drinks I haven't been overly impressed with poor service and I think it's pretty expensive for the quality on offer.

That being said though, I will stay here at some point as like I say, generally I am a fan of this local chain. I will update this post with a review once we have stayed. Expect to pay around £116 for a budge double room.

There is limited free parking on site but most guests will have to use the paid car park in Seahouses across the road. This pub/hotel is super central in the heart of the village.

If you asked me to pick a favourite from the above, I genuinely couldn't. All of the places we have stayed on this list have been first class and I would stay at them all again / recommend them all.
