5 Reasons to Stay at Hiba Lodge, Cayton Bay Holiday Park

We recently stayed at Hiba Lodge, Cayton Bay and were super impressed. I think Cayton Bay is the best holiday park I've ever stayed at in terms of facilities for all ages and location.

Hiba Lodge is a privately owned three bedroom lodge with enclosed wrap around decking (and a hammock!), full kitchen with a proper fridge freezer, dishwasher and even washing machine and two toilets.

It's a real home from home with comfy sofas, a smart TV with Netlix subscription, complimentary WiFi and plenty of board games. I loved the little touches like a TV in the master bedroom, beds made on arrival and USB sockets by the beds.

The minimum stay is just two nights here which works perfecly for a weekend break. The lodge is professionally cleaned between lets and it's self check-in. Parking is available opposite the lodge.

Expect to pay from £320 per short break for up to 6 guests. Use Use code NEFAMILYFUN10 for a 10% discount.

Code is valid from today until the 9th of February 2025 and a minimum of 2 nights stay is required.

5 Reasons to Stay at Hiba Lodge, Cayton Bay Holiday Park

1 - It's Accessible by Public Transport

Hiba Lodge and Cayton Bay is easy to get to by public transport. I've travelled this way before from Newcastle and it was fairly straightforward - train from Newcastle to Scarborough (usually with a change at York) and then a bus or taxi from Scarborough Train Station to Cayton Bay Holiday Park which is just over 3 miles away so not far at all.

If you're catching the bus, the stop is across the road from the train station. Do check current timetables online when making plans.

There is a bus stop directly outside Cayton Bay Holiday Park with buses to Filey, Bridlington and Scarborough. They run fairly late into the evening (11pm in summer). Fares can be paid with cash/card/contactless via an app. Taxis can be booked from reception if you prefer.

Most train journeys should take less than 2 hours (Newcastle-Scarborough) and it should take around 2.5 hours to drive from Newcastle. There is lots of free parking near the lodge.

2 - Excellent Facilities for All Ages

I will begin this section with a little info about the Hub Pass. If you'd like to access the swimming pool and Showbar (where the daytime and evening entertainment is), you will need to purchase a Hub Pass from reception. During our stay, these were priced at £18.90 per person per short break. Under 2s do not require a pass.

Staff were strict on checking passes and you could not enter the Showbar without one.

You can book most activities such as mini golf etc.....without a pass (just visit the Activities Hub to book) as well as visit and enjoy the Playgrounds, Streetfood Area, Woof Park, Sports Courts, Boat House Bar & Restaurant, Karaoke Booths, Free Soft Play, Arcades and VR area.

Personally we didn't buy a pass and didn't feel like we had missed out but I think if I was visiting with young children who would like the entertainment and swimming, I'd probably buy them. There is also Alpamare Water Park a few miles away in Scarborugh (which is much bigger) as an alternative option.

We actually have owners passes for another Parkdean Park (Cresswell Towers) thanks to Steve's parents owning a holiday home there and have visited for over 10 years. So I was SO shocked to see just how different Cayton Bay Holiday Park was. It was just another level with amazing facilities and clearly loads of investment.

Like I said in the intro, it is one of the best holiday parks I have ever visited and I do prefer Cayton Bay to the nearby Haven sites too.

Hiba Lodge is located just a 1 minute from the main Activity Hub - you are in the heart of the action yet you don't hear any noise.

Let's take a look at some of the activities available to enjoy:

3 - Lots to Explore in the Area

Hiba Lodge is just over 3 miles from Scarborough and there's a bus stop outside that will either drop you at the beach or train station.

Scarborough is one of our favourite places to visit. I think I've probably visited over 30 times. It's a traditional seaside town with absolutely loads to do.

Expect vast sandy beaches and beach huts, beautiful parks with boats to hire and ducks/squirrels to feed, amusement arcades, boat trips, a fairground, mini train rides, ice cream parlours, fish and chips, a waterpark, victorian waterchute, theatre, bowling, cinema, outdoor ampitheatre with regular shows, a castle, sea life centre, mini golf courses and more. You'll never get bored in Scarborough. It's impossible.

Luna Park Fairground

Scarbrough Castle

Scarborough Market

Scarborough Tramway

Peasholm Park, Mini Golf and Boating Lake

Scarborough Open Air Theatre

Historic Water Chute

Mini Train Rides

Bowling, Pool & Interactive Darts at Olympic Leisure

Sealife Centre

Filey is another beautiful place to visit within a few miles of Hiba Lodge. You can either catch the bus or there is pleny of parking (lots free too).

Filey is absolutely stunning with streets lined with cute little gift and antique shops, a lovely park with heritage trail, a perfect beach with cafes on the prom, little indpendent restaurants and even it's own zoo (Filey Bird & Animal Park).

If you're in the area, you're going to want to visit this place.

Bridlington is also an option but I do have to be honest and say I've just never got on with it and do prefer Scarborough and Filey. Some people do like it though so it is an option. You'll find a model village, animal park and more seaside attractions.

I also have to mention Playdale Farm Park which is nearby. We used to visit all of the time when the kids were little and it's somewhere you can spend a full day (it's very much like our own Whitehouse Farm). Yorkshire Water Park also looks really fun for those who are looking for something more active.

4 - It's a Dog Friendly Holiday

Dogs are welcome at Hiba Lodge and Cayton Bay Holiday Park is fairly dog friendly too. There's a dedicated dog walk through the woods, a free enclosed dog agility park and you are just across the road from a beach which is dog-friendly all year round.

Dogs do need to be kept on a lead when walking around the park and they are not permitted inside the main entertainment hub.

However, there is a conservatory joined onto the bar/restaurant where dogs are permitted. It's pretty cool with big screens showing the football / sport and you can order food/drink from a QR code on your table if you are by yourself and can't leave your dog.

Dogs are also welcome in the outdoor streetfood area which has music, big screens and street food vans. There is covered and uncovered seating here.

Dogs on leads can observe many of the outdoor activities such as Bungee Trampolines or High Ropes.

There are plenty of places to visit with dogs in the area too including lots of beaches, Filey Bird & Animal Park, the Miniature Railway in Scarborough, Scarborough Castle, Peasholm Park (dogs are welcome on the boats here too), Scarborough Trams, Boat Trips from Scarborough Harbour (including speed boats!), Amsuement Arcades in Scarborough plus many of the pubs, cafes and restaurants too.

5 - It's Not Just for Summer

Hiba Lodge is a year-round destination with lots going on outside of Spring/Summer. During October Half Term, lots of Halloween activities are available to book at Cayton Bay Holiday Park including pumpkin carving, a Monster Ball, slime workshops, halloween pottery, zombie rave, ghost walk, halloween disco and more (chargeable / hub pass may be required).

There's lots going on in the area too with Halloween Trails at Filey Bird & Animal Park, Spooky Activities and Trails at Scarborough Castle, a Pumpkin Patch at Playdale Farm Park and Ascarium at Scarborough Sealife Centre.

Plus Scarborough Lights run from mid-November and are free to visit and Scarborough Sparkle Weekend returns from 29 Nov- 1 Dec with lots of festive activities planned.

Cayton Bay Holiday Park is hosting Winter Wonderland Breaks across December with activities including a skating rink, family panto, elf academy, christmas discos, christmas pottery, bauble and christmas card making, christmas bear making, christmas concerts and more available across selected breaks (some activities chargeable / Hub Pass required).
