In 2024, instead of one big family holiday we decided to book 3 x 3 night breaks - one with each of our children to a destination of their choice (within reason). You can read about our trip to Athens with Jack over Easter here and I'll share a blog about Rome with Harry soon.
This blog is going to focus on our trip to San Antonio over August bank holiday weekend with Dee who was 15 at the time. We booked a package deal with Jet2.
Jet2 fly from Newcastle to Ibiza pretty much every day in the summer. If booking your flight and accommodation separately, you can expect to pay around £180-£250 for a return flight including luggage in August. The flight time is just over 3 hours.
Dee did need a little bit of help when choosing her destination as she wasn't sure where she wanted to go. I must say I did influence her decision a bit as I've always wanted to go to San Antonio. Dee loves sunsets, chilled vibes, ice creams, nice beaches, cocktails and shopping for jewellery and Ibiza fitted the bill.
We did really splash out on the hotel for this trip as with the boys' holidays, there was going to be more spending money required as we were sightseeing plus the boys eat so much more than Dee. Plus on this trip, it was going to be more of a chill at the hotel pool kind of holiday so we wanted it to be nice.
I booked the Blau Parc Hotel which is a 4* hotel in the Luxe Collection. We booked B&B which suited us perfectly. The hotel was wonderful. I will return to Ibiza at some point in the next few years and we'll definitely stay here again.
Find out more, check prices and book here: Blau Parc with Jet2. We paid around £2700 for the three of us for three nights over August Bank Holiday including flights, a seaview suite, breakfast and transfers. Like I said, this wasn't a cheap holiday.
Our coach transfers were included with our package. If you're booking everything seperately, I recommend Welcome Pick Ups for private transfers. We've used them a fair bit and always find communication to be excellent and the vehicles to be safe and smart.

Blau Parc Hotel Review
Our favourite place to hang out was the rooftop infinity pool. Just stunning! They play chilled Ibiza music and there's a bar serving cocktails and drinks which you can sip at the bar or your lounger. You can order food to your bed too.
There are plenty of regular loungers which are very comfortable with soft mattresses and there are plenty of tables for drinks and parasols. You can hire a fancy day bed for 20/30 euros but honestly, this is not needed. There are also loungers in the pool if you need to cool off. The rooftop has a real grown up vibe and no kids (under 12) are allowed).
Pool towels are provided - simply swap at reception.
The common areas inside the hotel were lovely with chill out sofas, beautiful toilets and dining both inside and out. Reception were really helpful with English speaking staff. You can book day trips and activities through reception. There is also a dedicated Jet2 area in reception, it's not always staffed but there is lots of info and contact details.
This option suited us for lunch as Dee could have pizza and we'd order tapas and little picky bits to share. It was all fantastic.
The Beach
Just along from the beach is a landing point for jet skis / boats if you'd like to hire one.
Child Friendly Day Clubs
Craig David was hosting a pool party at Ibiza Rocks next to our hotel on one of the days we were there and I would have loved to have taken Dee to this - I think it would have been fine. But again, it's strictly over 18s only and at around £40 a ticket, I didn't want to risk being turned away.
San Antonio does have some day clubs where kids and teens are welcome though. Bam-Bu-Ku is a sister venue to Ocean Beach and known for it's child-friendly events. Fam Bu Ku and El Kiddo both include loads of children's entertainment which lots of people highly recommend - things like character visits, circus school, kids shows. This looked a bit childish for Dee though.
I spotted Denise Van Outen was hosting a Disco-licious event when we were there and kids and teens were welcome so I booked that. All of the day beds were gone by the time I booked so we just booked a table in the bar which I think was around 30euro minimum spend for adults and 15e for kids. Not bad and we spent that fast enough.
Our table was ours for the day and we were in and out of the pool as Denise was on the decks - she played to a Millenium Mum crowd - Whitney, Beyonce and even some JK! All the mams were sipping their wines with their feet in the pool as the kids played and we created lots of happy memories with Dee that day. Loved it.
Las Dahlias Hippy Night Market
We booked a coach trip via the Jet2 app (along with two other families with teens staying at our hotel). And had a brill few hours here.
There are loads of stalls selling jewellery, clothing and gifts. Pretty commercialised and expensive though. Some bits were too much for us to justify but we did buy Dee some jewellery and Steve treated himself to a leather bracelet. I bought some Ibiza herbs to cleanse the house.
There are live DJs and singers dotted about and it does have a very boho vibe to it. There are little pop up food and drink spots or you can wander around with cocktails. I will say the cocktails were not nice at all though - definitely stick to beer if visiting.
You can join a queue to have your tarot or palm read and join in with dancing. This place was perfect for a night out with teens - didn't feel childish and felt grown up yet felt safe enough to be wandering around and having a good time.
Sunset at Mambo Rocks
Catching sunset at Cafe Mambo is a must-do when staying in San Antonio. The minimim spend for sunset tables for us was £120pp though and there was no way I could justify us spending £360, especially as Dee wouldn't be drinking alcohol and didn't really like much on the menu.
Instead, we just took our own drinks and climbed down onto the rocks in front of Mambo. This isn't some kind of travel tip - everyone who goes to Ibiza knows you can do this. You still get to listen to the DJs at Mambo and really feel part of something.
When the sun did set, everyone on the rocks started cheering. Just a proper chilled Ibiza experience and one of my best memories from the trip.
The sunsets in San Antonio do not disappoint and put on a show every evening of our trip.
Sunset Walks, Cocktails & Dinners
Around August Bank Holiday, the sun sets in Ibiza at around 8:30pm so 8pm is an ideal time to head out for sunset dinner and drinks. There were loads of places to choose from next to our hotel, our favourite was the SunSeaBar just a few minutes from our hotel. I messaged them to book a table with a view and they didn't disappoint. We had a front row seat!
The service was excellent and I really enjoyed my Lobster Ravioli and Aperol Spritz.
If you're looking for something more informal, there are takeaway kiosks along the prom serving takeaway food, cocktails and ice creams and they provide cushions for you to sit on the wall and watch the sunset. We did this one night and it was lush. I absolutely LOVED watching all the proper instagrammers getting their sunset outfit shots.
San Antonio comes properly alive in the early hours of the morning and we saw none of that as were tucked up in bed. What we did experience was laid back vibes, stunning sunsets, beautiful cocktails and beaches plus a fantastic pool scene. We'll be back!
